Officer James Page's Unsuccessful Attempt to Have Eric Puryear Prosecuted for "Witness Intimidation"

As briefly discussed in the news section of this website, Officer James Page attempted to have me prosecuted for "witness intimidation." In his complaint, Officer Page complained about this website, falsely accused me of sending someone to his house to inquire about his utility bill, and dishonestly contradicted the sworn testimony given in court.

The McHenry County State's Attorney's Office declined to file any charges, which is not surprising given the utter lack of a crime on my part. Indeed I find it concerning that, as a police officer who is trusted to determine when a crime is being committed and arrest the person committing it, that Officer Page would attempt something so baseless. As the Sheriff's Reports show, I was then threatened with an attorney disciplinary complaint, should I refuse to remove the website. The website remains and shall remain, regardless of any threats.

Through a Freedom of Information Act Request, I obtained a complaint the Officer James Page filed with the McHenry County Sheriff's department to try and have me prosecuted for witness intimidation. You can click here to download the frivolous complaint that Officer Page submitted to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office (and related documents) in his attempt to have me prosecuted in retaliation for creating this website.

Like Officer James Page's other attempts to block my right to free speech and to attempt to stop my firm from providing free legal representation to those who he has wrongfully stopped, this attempt has failed. We continue to represent multiple people who have been mistreated by Officer Page, and continue to evaluate other cases.
